For today’s entry, lets talk more about inserting Hyperlinks & Buttons on a Digital Publication. You can either use a hyperlink or button to jump to websites, to link to other articles or pages, or to send emails. Basically, the capabilities of these 2 are the same but if you’re creating a text link, use the hyperlink while if you want the object’s appearance to change when it’s tapped or to jump to a different state in a slideshow, use a button.
Here’s a step by step guide as to how you can insert a hyperlink into your digital publication:
- Create the hyperlink object
Select a text frame, a graphic, or text within a frame
2. Specify the hyperlink type
From the Link To menu, choose either URL, Email, or Page.
3. Specify the Destination settings
For URL, use http:// (for websites), navto// (for linking to other articles), or itms// (for linking to apps in the App Store)
For Email, specify the address and subject line.
4. Change Overlay Creator panel settings
Use the Overlay Creator panel to change settings. Select “View in Context” if you want the website to open in an in-app.browser. Deselect this option to exit the Viewer and open an
external browser. Deselect this option for email and itms links.
I’ll update on the rest of the interactive contents tutorial shortly after I’ve return to Singapore. In the meantime, enjoy and drop me a comment/mail if you need further information about it.
